Future Me's Emergency Contact
Look! Squirrel! #13
We create a fictional “Future Me” and then spend enormous energy trying to protect, rescue, optimize, or impress that person. The irony is that Current Me is carrying all the stress for someone who doesn’t even exist yet. This fits perfectly with the Squirrel’s habit of treating imagined future problems as urgent present emergencies.
Question: How much of today’s energy am I spending on problems that only exist in an imagined future?
