The Script Revision Committee
Look! Squirrel! #28
One of the mind’s favorite habits is arguing with reality. It writes a script for how the day should unfold, how people should behave, and how life ought to feel. Then, when reality fails to follow the script, the mind concludes that something is wrong.
The Flower Capybara’s question gently interrupts this habit. “How’s everything right now?” is an invitation to step out of the movie playing in our heads and return to direct experience. In this moment, are we safe? Are we breathing? Is there something simple and good that can be appreciated? Often, the present moment is far less troubled than the story we are telling about it.
Question: What am I treating as a problem right now that only exists because reality isn’t matching my expectations?
