Guidance for a Life Better Than You Could Imagine

A Life Guided by the Search for What Is True

Coming from a lifetime of practice, experience, and learning what actually works

Still learning. Still practicing. Still smiling

Shankar means "bringer of joy" and I hope Inner Satisfaction brings you some joy.

I've lived a life shaped by curiosity, exploration, and a deep pull toward understanding what is true.

After graduating from UConn in 1969, I spent 20 years living in a farm community in West Virginia. During that time, I had the privilege of traveling and meeting with many respected practitioners of realization and awakening. These people had devoted their lives to understanding the deeper nature of being.

Eventually, something in me said it was time to move on.

In 1996, I set out to cross the United States by bicycle. That journey became one of my greatest teachers. It showed me, in a very direct way, the power of trust, and how little we actually need to live simply and feel content.

Later, I joined a spiritual community in North Carolina, where I spent four meaningful years learning and eventually teaching practices. When the community came to its natural close, I once again followed the call to continue the journey.

I spent the following years traveling the country by RV, eventually visiting nearly every state. Along the way, I continued to learn from a number of teachers and mentors, including Rennie Davis and Kirsten Liegmann, through the Foundation for Humanity (now the Ilian Leadership Academy).

Over time, it became clear that these practices are not just helpful, they are essential.

Now based in the Portland, Oregon area, I've brought together what I've learned and made it available through Inner Satisfaction, which is simply a way of offering them, so others can discover for themselves what is already here.

Sharing this work is the real purpose.
